You have certain rights and responsibilities if you are a tenant in a privately rented property, such as to live in a property that is in a good state of repair and have your deposit returned when the tenancy ends - and in some circumstances have it protected. However being a tenant also entails responsibilities - such as you must take good care of the property and also pay the agreed rent, even if repairs are needed or you are in dispute with your landlord.
Likewise there are responsibilities that come with being a Landlord such as making sure the gas equipment they supply is safely installed and maintained by a gas safe registered engineer and also having a registered engineer do an annual gas safety check on each appliance and flue. But then there are also rights given to Landlords in certain scenarios such as rent arrears where the Landlord is able to evict the Tenant.
At Hattin Solicitors we will offer you advice on your rights and responsibilities as a tenant or landlord. Contact us today and we will ensure we guide you through your matter, offering a bespoke service of legal expertise suited to your matter.
